It
is THI’s mission to enable local health professionals
and support their efforts to improve quality of care in their
own environment. However, THI recognizes that on occasion
patients must travel to other countries for a variety of reasons
including local inaccessibility to a specific, necessary diagnostic
or treatment modality.
When such situations arise, THI works closely with the patient,
patient’s family, and physician to identify appropriate
services within Trinity hospitals in the United States. THI
aims to ensure that both logistical and medical attention
is provided that will meet the patient’s needs. This
includes the identification of a primary care physician who
will coordinate care and facilitation of services throughout
the system.
Logistical issues can sometimes be overwhelming for international
patients to address when in the United States. THI takes care
of items such as airport pick-up, ground transportation, arrangement
of lodging for family members, arrangement for translation
services, if necessary, and the convenience of an international
patient representative who is available to respond to needs
and questions of patient and family on a daily basis.
THI is also able to contract with foreign governments for
special services. |
